EPOS | Sennheiser line of headphones is the result of a joint venture between the Danish company Demant and the popular German brand Sennheiser. The Adapt 560 is a versatile over-the-ear headset that is originally marketed as an enterprise solution, but offers the flexibility to adapt as a premium headset for work from home environments.
The Adapt 560 is a Bluetooth and UC optimised headset that can connect to mobile and PC simultaneously. It comes with a USB Type-A dongle, which helps you pair the device with a desktop or laptop with plug-and-play simplicity. There is no software to download nor complicated setup customisations to do for pairing. This allows you to switch between two PCs just by unplugging the dongle from the first and plugging in to the second. The EPOS Connect software allows you to configure and update the headset. The headset can be folded and stored in the supplied premium carry case.
The headset has a premium looking adjustable plastic head band with thin cushioning. The soft ear pads make it comfortable to wear and the rotating earpieces allow a snug fit. All controls are on the right side along with a smart microphone boom which can be folder onto the headband. The microphone gets muted once the band is folded and unmuted when it is extended. Other controls include a Multifunction button, a Hook button, an LED indicator, a Power/Mute button, USB-C socket, and a Settings button. The Multifuction button can be used to start/pause audio playback, skip to the previous/next track, rewind /fast forward the track, and control the volume. The Hook button can initiate, accept or end a call, let you manage incoming calls, invoke Microsoft Teams, or activate voice assistant. The Power button can be used to mute/ unmute microphone, pair with a Bluetooth device and clear pairing list. This is quite useful since it eliminates the annoying situation where you need to search for the device that you previously paired the headset with so that you can pair it with a new Bluetooth device. The Settings button lets you control ANC/ Talk Through mode, request remaining battery power and enable/ disable voice prompt. The USB dongle offers a Link Button for easy pairing along with an LED indicator.
The Adapt 560 can save up to eight paired devices and can be connected with two of the paired devices simultaneously. It offers 32 Ohms impedance and features a 4-microphone Hybrid ANCtechnology. The speakers offer clear vocals with good separation between frequencies, without overpowering bass. Combine this with efficient ANC and clear microphone pickup and you have an ideal solution for enterprise applications in a noisy environment. However, on pairing with the PC and smartphone simultaneously, the headset pauses the playback from the PC on every event happening on the phone such as a WhatsApp notification or a message pop-up. This is quite annoying.
The headset is powered by a 600 mAh Lithium polymer battery, which is stated to offer up to 46 hours of listening time without ANC. With ANC and at 70 percent volume, we could estimate up to 10 hours of listening time in a single charge, which is quite good.
The EPOS | Sennheiser Adapt 560 is a headset that offers everything that you would expect from a premium audio product in this category that is designed with convenience in mind.
